Rat Race

In Mahabharat, there were two great warriors: Arjun & Karn. There were no other warrior who could stand in front of these two greats. Both had proven their might to every other person except to each other. Therefore both believed they were better than the other and a claimant to the title of Greatest Warrior of All Times. As normally happens, the scope of gaining significant competitive edge over close competitors is limited unless one of them aspires to be different with a unique strategy. Else they end up aspiring for an incremental advantage over the other which is soon covered up by the later. Neither of the two had aspired to use their greatness for societal good. If they wished they could have brought immense glory to the society. Karn who came from the lowest strata of the society could have worked to uplift his fellow brethren, but he refused. Both Karna & Arjun were more focused in the rat race to outdo the other. In his desperation to prove his superficial greatne...

Hashtagged Life

One of the most commonly used symbols nowadays on keyboard # (read as Hashtag) remains the most intriguing one for me. I could never understand the purpose of its existence till few years back. It was even more disturbing to know that it’s not an invention of computer age but it existed since the days of Romans. What will you do now?” “Lets see, being a Mumbaikar, I need a bar to hold and latch on to it for travel”, I said. “Aivi hi thodi itne paise diye the, ki latak ke jao” she reverted immediately. But within my heart I felt as if all my plans were in doldrums. Earlier during day, I was very excited about this trip to Mumbai. I was visiting my family after a gap of a month. I was missing those chubby cheeks and naughty eyes a lot. My bundle of joys too were eagerly waiting for this day as never did I leave them for such a long gap. They would often ask “Papa aap kab aoge? You don’t miss us?” With moist eyes, used to promise them “will be coming soon Betu”. My wifey is very reserved, she would never express so openly as the kids, but her eyes during the video call would always say “Come Soon”. I did my web check-in this morning and reserved the aisle seat 31D in the last row. Not that I love last row but, in the web check-in, that was the onl...
